Responsibilities of Internal Complaint Committee
- Provide fair and transparent ways to resolve complaints through discussion and conciliation, without undermining the rights of the complainant. Aim to resolve issues without focusing only on punishment, which can cause further conflict or resentment.
- Ensure the complainant’s safety and keep their identity confidential. Offer necessary support such as approved leave, relaxed attendance, or transfer to another department or supervisor if needed while the complaint is being processed. The offender may also be transferred if required.
- Make sure that victims or witnesses are not treated unfairly or discriminated against for raising a complaint. Protect them from any retaliation or negative consequences for participating in the complaint process.
- Help the employee or student if they wish to file a complaint with the police.
